Lockheed C-141 Starlifter

The Lockheed C-141 Starlifter was a long-range, jet-powered military transport aircraft that served as the backbone of the U.S. military airlift for over four decades, from 1965 to 2006. Its development was ordered by President John F. Kennedy, who envisioned a fast and versatile aircraft capable of carrying troops and cargo over long distances. A total of 285 Lockheed C-141 Starlifter aircraft were built. This included 284 for the US Air Force and one demonstrator model that was later transferred to NASA.
