The Boeing 727 is a well-known, narrow-body tri-jet aircraft developed by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. The 727 is unique for being Boeing's only tri-jet design, with its engines mounted in the tail section. Two engines are located on either side of the rear fuselage, and a third engine is integrated into the tail, connected via an S-shaped intake duct. A total of 1,832 Boeing 727 aircraft were built, according to Boeing. This includes all variants of the 727, such as the 727-100 and 727-200. Production of the 727 spanned from 1963 to 1984.
National Airlines was a trunk carrier that operated from 1934 to 1980. It was founded by George T. Baker and Don Franklin in 1934 and initially focused on airmail services.
