The Fairchild Swearingen Metroliner (also known as the Swearingen Metro and Fairchild Aerospace Metro) is a popular 19-seat, pressurized, twin-turboprop regional airliner. It was first produced by Swearingen Aircraft and later by Fairchild Aircraft in San Antonio, Texas. Over 600 Fairchild Swearingen Metroliners were built. Specifically, the total number of Metro, Expediter, Merlin IV series, and C-26 series aircraft produced was 703. Continental Express was a brand name used by several independent regional airlines that provided feeder service to Continental Airlines. These airlines operated under an agreement with Continental Airlines, using smaller aircraft to connect passengers from smaller airports to Continental's larger hubs.
