What is half-caff coffee?
Our half-caff coffee is a 50/50 blend of decaf and fully-charged beans. Half-caff coffee is the best of both worlds—enough caffeine to get you moving, but not so much that it feels like you’ve stuck your finger inside an electrical outlet. It’s like a gentle breeze on a warm day vs. putting your head out the window on the highway.
Why half-caff coffee?
We like sharing things we love and believe in. We wanted to help people feel less anxious, without giving up the things they love. The world was feeling overwhelming, and we realized normal coffee was creating more anxiety and less sleep. We love the taste, ritual, and health benefits of coffee, but don’t love the jitters, anxiety, or afternoon crash.
How much caffeine is in half-caff coffee?
An 8-ounce cup of half caff coffee has about 45-55 mg of caffeine. A standard cup of coffee has somewhere between 95 mg - 115 mg.
What the heck is Swiss-Water Process decaf?
The Swiss-Water method completely avoids chemicals (unlike 70% of the world’s decaf) and is the preferred method for organic coffee. SWP removes caffeine while preserving flavor. Methylene Chloride and Ethyl Acetate (also described as sugar cane) are not used at any point. Fresh, unroasted coffee beans are soaked in hot water to extract caffeine along with coffee’s natural flavors. The water then passes through an activated carbon filter that traps only the caffeine. The flavor-rich water is introduced to a fresh batch of unroasted coffee, and due to the principle of equilibrium, only caffeine is extracted from the new beans before they are dried to prepare for roasting. Is that mind-blowing or what!?!
We Implement Organic and Regenerative Practices
The Mexico Unión Ramal Santa Cruz and Cooperativa de Producción Tzeltal‑Tzotzilbeans grow the way nature intended—no synthetic pesticides, no harsh fertilizers, just pure, organic TLC. Picture lush coffee plants lounging beneath native shade trees, sharing the forest floor with birds, bugs, and all of nature's good vibes. We keep the soil feasting on homemade compost, switch up crops to keep things fresh, and treat water like the precious resource it is (sip, don’t guzzle).
While we follow organic farming practices, our beans are not labeled certified organic because our manufacturer also processes non-organic beans. This shared space means we can't claim the certification, but rest assured—our commitment to organic principles is rooted in every bean.
Ethical Sourcing and Fair Wages for Farmers
We work directly with coffee farmers who use ethical practices. Fair Trade means no middlemen, no exploitation—just good people growing great coffee in a way that’s fair for everyone involved. Our coffee beans are certified fair trade by FLOCERT.
