The Boeing 727 is an American mid-size, narrow-body, three-engine, T-tailed commercial jet airliner. Produced by Boeing Commercial Airplanes from 1963 to 1984, it was designed for short-to-medium range routes and could operate from smaller airports with shorter runways. It became the world's best-selling passenger jet in its time, until it was surpassed by the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320.
TWA was formed on July 16, 1930, by the amalgamation of divisions of Western Air Express and Transcontinental Air Transport. It was originally known as Transcontinental & Western Air. TWA was a pioneer in American aviation, operating from 1930 until its acquisition by American Airlines in 2001.
