Green & Light Blue Striped Tussah Jaspe Silk Grenadine Tie (Garza Grossa)

After nearly 2 years of work to recreate an old prototype tie, we have finally created our first truly unique variety.

This particular tie is made of an exceptionally rare silk variety called tussah jaspe. Tussah jaspe comes from harvesting wild silkworm cocoons, often after the moth has already broken free, compared to the usual domesticated silkworms that are boiled inside the cocoon. This has led to the fabric being considered a 'wild' or 'raw' silk. The resulting yarn is often slightly slubby and has a very earthy texture/appearance.

The yarns are then dyed using the jaspe dying technique, which creates an irregular color pattern, allowing for much greater uniqueness to each piece.

Authentic Grenadine is only woven on the ancient wooden looms of Como, Italy, and it is celebrated for its distinctive open weave. Among its variations, Garza Fina and Garza Grossa are the two most notable weaves. Garza Fina has a tighter weave, offering a more subtle texture, while Garza Grossa is defined by a looser, more pronounced weave, giving the tie a bolder and more visually dynamic presence.

When it comes to striped ties, Garza Grossa is the undisputed king. Its bold weave structure makes it the perfect choice for stripes, projecting a strong and confident look.

Each of our Garza Grossa Grenadine ties is meticulously handmade by our skilled craftsman in Italy. Using a wool interlining, the tie gains a luxurious, weighted feel that helps it drape beautifully, while a durable viscose lining ensures longevity.

This tie’s striking texture makes it an effortless choice for both business and formal settings, adding a touch of refined Italian craftsmanship to any outfit. It pairs seamlessly with solid or subtly patterned shirts and suits.
