A campaign for more hope

During Easter time, all it takes is a glance at the surroundings and the miracle of life jumps out at us: young grass, delicate flowers, funny young animals. How easily our hearts move with it - celebrating, enjoying, rejoicing in life. If we take a second look at the Easter story, it can be confusing. At the center is the execution of a man 2000 years ago. That doesn't seem to fit: new life, spring feelings and death.

The team of authors Oskar König, whose book "24x Relive Christmas" has sold more than 80,000 copies, couldn't be prouder. But the team of volunteers from "Relive Christmas e. V." is even more pleased about the great interest that these sales figures express: the interest of many in dealing with the Christian holidays in a new and conscious way . A completely new project has now been created for this purpose: the "Relive Easter" campaign.

More than 1200 parishes of all denominations in German-speaking countries took part in the "24x Relive Christmas" campaign in 2020 and 2021. The aim is to bring the original meaning of Christmas back to the present day. In 2023, the organizer, together with numerous Christian partner associations, will venture into what Wikipedia calls the "highest festival in the church year", Easter. Dr. Reinhardt Schink , chairman of the Evangelical Alliance Germany, says: " Easter is the most important and hopeful event of all time . "Relive Easter" will inspire a whole new level of enthusiasm across all denominational boundaries."

The goal: more hope!

On February 22, 2023, the pre-Easter Lent begins for many Christians around the world. But even though the topic of fasting is now very popular far beyond the Christian faith, fewer and fewer people know what to do with the original meaning of this tradition. Easter has become foreign to them. But this special festival has a lot to it.

"For more hope!" , is the title of the organizers' program, because that is exactly what it is about: to make the message of hope, which has not lost its meaning even after 2000 years, come alive again.

They offer various options for the four weeks before the festival: The campaign book provides daily inspiration to help you rediscover Easter in a refreshing and realistic way. Churches and congregations of all denominations are participating with services, children's and youth programs and small groups on the campaign's themes. Extensive professional material is provided for this purpose. Everything is in a modular system so that the groups and churches involved can freely adapt it to their own needs. In addition, a creative distribution campaign is planned with which you can give gifts to neighbors and friends and invite them to "experience Easter anew."

The team is not planning its own Easter event, comparable to the multimedia Christmas shows. Instead, "Re-Experience Easter" links the large existing Easter campaigns such as "7 Weeks Without" by the EKD or the theater highlight "Passion 21" from Füssen. Project manager Markus Heusser says: "Easter is the most important festival for Christians, but for many people it is just the longest weekend of the year. Easter 2023 offers a unique opportunity to change that. Let's "Re-Experience Easter" together and with it a new Easter joy!"
