Artisanal Batik Tray

This stunning artisanal oval tray made from solid mahogany wood, coloured using batik technique. Intricate design carefully wax by batik artist to create a resist and the wood is then dyed with batik dye.  Finally the wax is removed revealing the batik design and wood texture underneath, before being sealed and polished to ensure the plate is safe for serving food. This is a unique and ancient craft from Indonesia, producing a truly one-of-a kind tray that are not only functional but also beautiful. 

It is ideal to use as a tray for serving up drinks and snacks. Or perhaps a trinket tray displaying your latest jewellery collection. A unique home gift with a good story for any occassions.

Care Instruction

All wood is dried until it reaches a moisture content of 12-15% to meet export standard. We finish the plate with a coat of bio wax to prevent water seepage into the grain and to help prevent the growth of bacteria.

• For maintenance, it is recommended to polish with bio wax every month. We do not recommend coating the wood with coconut or olive oil as it may produce a rancid smell.
• It is not recommended to soak the bowl. It's recommended to wash with soap, rinse and wipe dry immediately.
